3008 A Very Fine Georgian Ship's Decanter

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a very fine ship's decanter of the early 19th century.   The broad base has an upper band of diamond cutting above two steps, while the base has a narrow band of slice cutting.  The neck has four plain rings interspersed with panel-cutting, and the decanter has a target or bulls-eye stopper.

Like many early ship's decanters, this one is heavily made and of excellent clear colour.  It is a very practical decanter and a considerable rarity.  It is a decanter we are very happy to recommend.

Please refer to our newsletter of May 2012 where the subject of ship's decanters is discussed mpore fully than is practical here.
