3040 A Large Mahogany Coaster

Although we have coasters like this from time to time, there are in fact really quite rare. This is a good early example of very squat baluster outline with a neatly moulded rim, while the baize underneath is probaly original although trimmed.

Coasters of this model are among the earliest - apart from a few silver ones, and are the quintessence of understated elegance.  This one holds some of our magnum decanters easily and complements them well.
