4060 A Plain Tapered Decanter with a Scalloped Stopper

Click on the images to see more detail

In many ways, this is my favourite model of decanter which is reasonably often available to buy.  It is utterly plain, but the subtlety of the curvature of the body is most elegant.

The body is devoid of any decoration being a plain curved tapering form with a slightly evereted lip.  The stopper is an inverted pear shape and is cut with a scalloped edge.  This one holds a full bottle and pours very well.  There really is not very much more to be said about  this one!

Date: c.1780
