4062 A Plain Prussian MAGNUM Decanter
Is this the perfect decanter? There are some who say the design has never been bettered because there is sufficient capacity for the wine to 'breathe', because when it has two full bottles in it, the wine reaches below the bottom neck ring. The neck rings allow for a good grip to be taken, and when wine is being poured, it does not gurgle. Added to these attributes, the decanter looks good and allows a clear, uninterrupted view of the wine for a judgement to be made of its colour and clarity.
This model of decanter has been reproduced many times because it is so satisfactory, but this is an original, and has the added attraction of being a magnum. The three neck rings are unusually large in this example, but somehow they look perfectly in proportion. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips although there are a few small scratches as can be expected of a decanter of this age; they are not unsightly.
