4097 An Impressive Glass Claret Jug.

This supremely elegant claret jug was made towards the end of the 19th century.  The attenuated baluster body is cut with broad slices near the base and has a panel-cut neck.  It rests on a large 'merese' (a flat cushion shape) and has a star-cut base.  The long loop handle complements the wide pouring lip and the stopper is of solid mushroom for cut to match the body.

It holds a full bottle and is in fine overall condition.
