5073 A Pretty Engraved Taper Decanter

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a good full-bottle size taper decanter.  The body is decorated with a broad band of tiny engraved stars centred by a narrow double band of chevrons enclosing more tiny stars and polished ovals.  The shoulders and neck are panel- or slice-cut and the base is cut with narrow flutes.  The decanter is fitted with an inverted pear-shaped bevelled stopper.

Taper decanters are not only very attractive, but also very fit for purpose.   This is a good example with refined decoration which does not detract from its overall shape and simple appearance.
