5117 A Fine pair of Shaft-and-Globe Decanters

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a really delightful and fine pair of decanters characterised by fine quality 'diamond' cutting all over the spherical bodies and above the star-cut bases.  The necks are cut with hexagonal hollow facets and the solid ball stoppers are facet-cut.

These are full bottle decanters and very fit for purpose.  The cutting allows a good appreciation of the wine inside because the cutting refracts light through the wine.  The facets of the necks allow an excellent grip to be taken and it is not surprising that after 150+ years, these are still in excellent condition.
