5122 A Pair of Magnum Silver-Mounted Carafe Corks

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a very unusual pair of silver mounted corks to stopper carafes.  They are unusual because they are steeply tapered, and while the narrow end is bottle-sized, the wide end is large enough to stoper a double magnum!  This means that they are capable of stoppering all sizes in between.

They were made in Edinburgh in 1900 by the famous firm of Hamilton & Inches (who continue in busienss to this day).

Date: 1900

Dimensions: 3.2", 8.1 cm. long, 1.8"4.5 cm diameter
