5124 A Completely Plain Initial Wine label 'P'

Click on the images to see more detail

This initial label is the epitome of simplicity - simply a cut-out letter 'P', with a couple of lugs on top to attach the chain.  The is no decoration whatever, but it is of quite heavy gauge.

It was made by George Paton in Edinburgh in about 1820.  This is somewhat curious, as we bought from the same source another label - quite different in design and form -  with the same marks and lack of date letter and town mark.

It is in excellent condition with no faults or repairs.

Dimensions: 1.8", 4.5 cm. high

Weight: 15 grams, 10 dwt.
