Click on the images to see more detail

This is an unusual label for rum.  There are no hallmarks although it appears to be heavy gauge silver and dates from the mid-nineteenthr century.  There are aspects of its manufacture which suggest it may have been made by George Unite of Birmingham (UK).

It carries the legend RUM pierced into a banner above an engraved staved barrel and flanked by florid scrolls.

Date: c.1850
