5148 A Finely Drawn Green 'Prussian' Decanter

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a well-drawn decanter of the 'prussian' form with a barrel-shaped body and three neck rings.

The colour is a blueish green -almost teal and while the shape is very sophisticated, the execution is somehwat rustic with striations in the glass and inclusions in the glass melt. The neck rings are flattened and the pontil is mostly ground and polished.  The stopper has been well made to match, but is recent.

Date: c.1800

Dimensions: 12.2", 31 cm. High incl. stopper
