5162 A late 19th Century Magnum Carafe

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a good quality magnum carafe at an economy level!  The neck is panel- or slice-cut while the body has a central band of almost circular 'printies.  The lower part of the body has a broader band of long oval printies or olives, while the base is star-cut.

The carafe holds two bottles very comfortably and the panel cut neck and widely everted lip give a good grip.  The glass has a slight yellow/green hue, but with wine in it and in artificial light, this would hardly be noticed.

This is a practical carafe and very fit for purpose!
