5164 A Prussian Cut Decanter with a Tasting Stopper

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a good quality Georgian carafe, but we recently found a tasting stopper which fits it very well, so it has become a decanter.  It has triple annulated neck rings above panel-cut shoulders, while the body has a band of diamond prisms and the lower part of the body is cut to match the shoulders.

This is a very practical piece and holds a full bottle of wine with ease and the tasting stopper has obvious advantages.

Date: c.1815

Dimensions: 10.9", (27.6 cm.) high incl. stopper

Sold (we would welcome news of similar items for sale)
