Click on the images to see more detail

Wine labels for burgundy, while not rare, are certainly far from common.  This is probably because wines from that region were considerably more difficult to ship to England than the wines of Bordeaux - which we call 'claret'.

This label with its shorter-than-usual chain was made in 1809 by Elizabeth Morley, a well known maker of labels

Date: 1809

Dimensions: 1.65", 4.2 cm wide
