6015 A Fine Pair of Classic 'Prussian' Decanters

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a really well-made pair of 'prussian' decanters in the classical tradition, with panel- or slice-cut shoulders beneath the three neck rings and with a fine band of fluting around the base.  They have bevelled, bulls-eye or target stoppers which are probably original.

The only-slightly everted lip points to an earlier date than many of this model - it appears to be received wisdom that later versions have thicker and more boldly everted rims.

These decanters are in excellent, unrestored condition, being clear and bright and with no chips, cracks or other blemishes, except for normal wear and tear that occurs after 200+ years.  They have clearly had an unusually calm existence!

Date: c.1800

Dimensions: 11.1", 28.2 cm. high incl. stoppers
