6029 A French DOUBLE MAGNUM Decanter

Click on the images to see more detail

A thoroughly practical if very generous decanter - and a typical example of a northern French decanter which was probably originally used for cider.  Its size gives it a great deal of presence.   It looks similar to English Georgian decanters of the early 19th century, but the low single neck ring and its size betray its origins.

It is in excellent overall condition, but the underside of the stopper has a chip which can be seen in the bottom image  - it does not detract from its efficacy.

Dimensions: 15.2", 38.5 cm. high incl. stopper
