6503 A Mahogany Double Bottle Holder

Click on the images to see more detail

While apparently a straightforward item of small 'furniture', this is, in fact, a very unusual piece.  It is very well made and is to take or display two bottles at room temperature - there is no facility to cool the wine - no waterproof lining.

It is made of faded mahogany and is of rectangular outline with two protruding knob handles of acorn shape - one at each end.  There is a larger knob finial in the centre of the top. all accurately turned on a lathe.  It rests on four turned feet.

There is a small nick from the top finial, but otherwise it is in fine condition with a lovely patina.
