6509 A Pair of Cut Shaft & Globe Decanters

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a good, bright pair of Victorian decanters.  The compressed globular bodies are profusely cut with printies (olives), stars and V grooves, while the bases are star-cut.  The necks are panel-cut rising to everted lips.  The stoppers are cut to match the bodies.

The cutting on these decanters allow a good observation of the wine inside as the cutting refracts light through the wine.  They hold a full bottle each and the stoppers, like the decanters are scratch-numbered which allows a firm assertion that the stoppers are original to the bodies!
