6522 A Fine Silver Wine Funnel

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a very good, if slightly unusual wine funnel.  It is crafted from good gauge silver and comes in three parts.  The removable strainer section has a shell tang, a gadrooned edge and a geometrically pierced coarse filter.  It also has a ring to secure a muslin fine strainer, which, unusually is cast - not cut from thin sheet silver as is usual.

The lower section has a cranked spout, and ribs to allow the escape of displaced air, below an ogee section and a broad bold band of embossed gadrooning.

This is an excellent funnel and very fit for purpose.

The funnel was frozen to minimise reflections for the purpose of making the images.
