6547 A Rare Delftware Bin Label for OLD, RUM

Click on the images to see more detail

Delftware bin labels are becoming increasingly scarce and those with unusual legends even more so.  The common wines names to find are Madeira, Sherry, Port and Claret, while there is a huge list of lesser well-known names.  Old Rum is well down the list in order of frequent occurrence.

The label is in excellent conditionwith no cracks, chips or restoration.  There is very minor rubbing to the surface around the edge, but it can only be seen with the aid of a loup (magnifying glasss).  There is a slightly blue-ish tint to the glaze which can be seen in my image.

The number '1' on the back of the label appears to be made by a marker pen - by some misguided person.  Perhaps it can be bleached away.
