9332 A Late 18th Century Mahogany Writing Table

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a delightful and practical writing table from the end of the 18th century. The two drawers, are sufficient for minimal home-office needs, and the other side is polished, so that it can stand in the middle of a room.  The top has a tooled leather lining, but this was replaced some years ago, and could do with a little TLC, although it is not the least unsightly.

Small practical pieces of Georgian furniture are not often seen, but this is elegant in addition to it being handsome.   The colour of the mahogany is a good medium hue - not too faded, nor too dark - in fact what one wants a piece of Georgian mahogany to look like!

The condition of the table is very good, with no broken or repaired elements (apart from the leather lining), and the casters and handles are original.
