9550 A Thomason-type Double-Action Corkscrew
This is a standard Thomason-type corkscrew without a gilded badge on the bronze barrel. It is missing its brush, but this is an easy restoration to accomplish. The bone (they are never ivory) handle appears to have been stained, and there is a very small amount of the tip of the helix missing. Also the suspension ring is bent.
With all the above, you may think this a corkscrew to avoid - you may be right - but perhaps not ! The brush is easy to replace (they cost £1.30 or thereabouts), and the suspension ring is easy to replace also. The helix has just been a little blunted - not broken and filed down.
But the corkscrew works well with a good action and the price is extremely attractive - see what they make on E-Bay!
