9785 A fine and Rare Enamel Wine Label for MALAGA
This is a good example of a rare form of English wine label which is thought to have been made in South Staffordshire or in the Birmingham area in the 1760s.
Quite typically it has the name of the wine, MALAGA, in black lettering against a whit background. It is decorated with a rose and other flowers and foliage above and a bunch of grapes below, while the perimeter is decorated with foliate scrolls in shades of ochre, blue and violet.
The label has had minor restoration as is usual with this model, but it now appears in perfect condition.
Date: c.1760

Price: UK customers £1,150, US customers $1,900
