9804 A Large and Attractive Silver Coaster
A silver coaster made in Sheffield in 1807 by John Roberts and Co. While the top and base mouldings are solidly cast gadrooning, the broad band of fruiting vine are die-stamped from sheet silver. This would have represented a considerable cost saving compared with the cast coasters of comparable appearance made in London at the same time.
The coaster is in excellent condition with the detail sharp and crisp.
