9813 A 'Prussian' carafe with White Striations

Click on the images to see more detail

This is a carafe of rare form being of 'prussian' outline, but with an unusual neck which is long-waisted and which has an annulated neck ring in which the component parts are of different sizes.  The body is decorated with an unusual form of latticino in which the milky-white threads drape unevenly across the entire body and in 4 sectors.

It is a charming and practical carafe of bottle capacity - just right for that viognier or chardonnay!

Date: c.1820

Dimensions: 8.25", 21 cm. high
