As I write this, my computer is on this table and I do all my office work on it.  It is the right height, and the size is very suitable for not just my, but many other situations.  The frieze has two drawers which retain their original brass 'swan-neck' handles and the drawers are edged with cock-beadings - an ingenious method of protecting the edges of the drawers.  The back and sides of the table are polished, so that it suitable for use in the middle of a room.

The faded green/brown tooled leather of the writing surface is somewhat scratched, but leather linings were designed to be replaced as and when necessary; it is a standard practice and this one has a crossbanded edge.  The table is raised on square tapered legs that end in 'spade feet' and brass casters.

This is a lovely and very practical item of antique furniture which I have been very happy to use - until someone else feels the need.    It measures 3' 6" (42" or 107 cm) wide, 26.75"( 68 cm.) deep and is 30.5" (77.5 cm.) high, so perfect for sitting at.  It dates from about 1780.
