5211 A pair of silver-gilt wine labels by Charles Rawlings

Code: 5211

£260.00

This is a fine, but modest pair of silver-gilt wine labels for Port and Sherry.  They were made in 1827 by Charles Rawlings - a well-known maker of labels of good quality and this is exemplified by these being cast rather than the cheaper production method of die-stamping.  They are of oblong, or rounded rectangular form with gadrooned edges with small shells at the centre of each side.

The labels are in excellent condition and have not been restored.

Date: 1827

Dimensions: 1.75", 4.4 cm wide

Weight: 28.5 grams, 18.5 dwt.
