This is a good example of a Victorian all-glass claret jug (which of course, can be used for any wine). The body is of 'shaft and globe' form with a panel-cut neck. the body has two bands of 'printies' (shallow circular or oval polished depressions) flanking a wider band of cut lozenges with star-cut centres. The base is starcut and the tall hollow 'balloon' stopper is cut to match the body. The jug has a loop handle witha flattened thumbpiece.
The jug is in very good condition with no visible restoration.
Height 12.2", 31 cm.
